Our Lead Consultant, Nigel Walker, started the company in 2013.

Having held senior positions in Blue Chip companies he saw a need for a straight-talking consultancy that cut through the jargon and helped businesses provide a safe and healthy place to work. Outsourcing

At Knowledge we understand that not all organisations want the overhead cost of directly employing a health and safety manager. Whilst this may be the case, it is still a legal requirement to be able to demonstrate that you have competent advice, whether it be a member of your own staff or a health and safety consultant that has been brought in through outsourcing. We offer a very flexible outsourcing solution to ensure that you have all the support you need, at a fraction of the cost of directly employing a health and safety manager.

Competent Person

It is a requirement of the Health & Safety at Work Regulations to appoint someone with the necessary training, experience and knowledge to help you manage health and safety within your business. A cost-effective solution is to appoint Knowledge as your competent person. By doing so you are guaranteed to be using an expert in the field of health & safety that meets the legal requirements of training and experience and will provide expert advice from a business that are leaders in Health and Safety compliance.

Fire Risk Assessments

On the 1st April 2006 the Regulatory reform (Fire & Safety) order, came into force. This means that every business owner and employer must be able to demonstrate that all fire risks have been assessed and the results recorded within a written fire risk assessment. Records must show that fire-fighting equipment has been provided, maintained and regularly inspected. A written Emergency Action Plan should be in place and displayed for all to see. Staff are to have received fire training in the use of equipment & procedures in the event of fire. You need to provide adequate means of fire detection, warning systems and escape routes to allow people to leave the workplace safely.

Knowledge will visit your premises and provide you with a comprehensive fire risk assessment at a competitive rate. We don't just advise you, we'll do them for you too.

Documentation

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act a business with 5+ employees is required to have a Health and Safety Policy which is available for all to see. Knowledge can provide your business with a comprehensive and professional policy, bespoke to your business needs. All of our policies contain a general policy statement, a safety management structure outlining roles and responsibilities, together with your specific arrangements for ensuring health and safety compliance in all aspects of your workplace. Risk assessment forms the very core of Health and Safety. Knowledge will help you to identify and manage your risks. Managed risks = managed costs and legal compliance – this makes good business sense. We produce assessments that identify the hazards and associated risks, the persons at risk, any existing control measures and provide advice and practical suggestions on additional measures should they be needed.

Surveys and Auditing

Asbestos Survey

Surveys of buildings for asbestos materials take various forms depending on a customer's need and the use of the building. However, to ensure compliance with the current Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 an asbestos building survey should be carried out on all non-domestic buildings and communal areas of domestic buildings. Knowledge have established a reputation for carrying out fast, accurate and cost-effective asbestos surveys which will assist in preventing or reducing exposure by highlighting the presence of any asbestos material.

Noise Survey

Quality Management

With over 15 years' experience in the creation, implementation and management of Quality Management Systems (QMS) we can provide your business with a simple and affordable route to ISO9001 certification. We will visit your business and review your current processes and procedures, highlighting anything that doesn't meet the standard. We can then assist you to make the necessary changes. We can help with templates too. We will then organise an Audit from a certification body to review everything that's now in place. Once they are satisfied you will be awarded your certification. We can then help you keep up with the system and certification with ongoing advice and help.

Since 2013 we have been providing Technical Authoring and Illustrating services to Equipment Manufacturers in both Defence and commercial sectors.

Our Technical Authors and Illustrators are ex-service and industry engineers with substantial experience. We bring together engineering expertise and technical authoring skills to ensure your product meets your requirements.
